Shows in Tn, PA, and MD.

Shakira getting one of her 12 points.
Shakira went home with Kathy and on to Ellen Russell for shows in the North East.  Shakira is Armani's sister.  She went RB two days in PA and WB/BOW the third day for her second major.  Then on to Maryland where she went RB one day and WB & BOV over a special two days for two more points.  She now has 12 points, both majors.

Meanwhile, back in Tennessee Lyric is racking up points of her own.  She was WB/BOW one day for a point and then WB/BOW/ BOV under Joan Kirkland for her second major.  She needs one point to finish.  Who says beauty and brains can't be in one little package.  See Lyrics herding pics in the last blog.

CCA Reg Herding Trials In St. Cloud, Fl.

Armani moving the sheep
Three weeks after Dona's match we were off again to the regional herding event, closer to home this time.  It was in St. Cloud, Fl.  My good friends Kathy Moll and Clarie Apple were here for the Halloween weekend to do something more constructive than to trick or treat.  My 2 yr. old tri girl, Lyric; Armani, out of Gizelle's litter with Scout; Thorn, Lyric's half brother, bred by Kathy; and Joy, Sunny's mother were all here to finish Q's for herding titles.

Thorn and Armani, both got their PT titles, although I think Claire really got Armani's 2nd leg and she felt like it too.  He was really woo-hoo on Sunday.
Armani ready to pounce
Lyric during her run.
Lyric got her 3rd Q for her started sheep title and is now Ceilidh's Deep River A Soft Goodbye, HSAs  She even got an extra leg on Sunday so that my granddaughter, Kilah and I could watch her.

Lyric and Claire keeping those sheep in line.

After a tiring, but rewarding weekend, Kathy and Clarie headed back to North Carolina with two extras.  Shakira went back to go to shows and finish her championship.  Chanel went back to Dona William's spa to get in shape for the Nationals in April.

And Lyric, now that she had shown her brains and usefulness went back to Dona's to go to more beauty shows.  See the show updates in the next blog.

Puppy Match at Dona Williams

We went to Dona Williams match on Oct. 8th with all eleven of Chanel's puppies.  They had a blast and were really good on the way there and on the way back.  But they had to get their beauty rest after such a long day.

One of the boys placed in his class of 13 and the blue smooth girl also placed in her class of 26.

The match was large with 76 collies entered and Chris Provenzano of Provenhill was the mystery judge.  Needless to say in the 2-4 mo. classes their wasn't much walking on lead.
The first 4 boys in this shot and the fifth one were all from Chanel's litter.

There must have been 50 people or more there from NC,  KY, FL, SC, VA, TN and more.  What a time with perfect decorations and lots of covered dishes to enjoy.  A good time was had by all.

Chanel's Pups

In the wee hours of the morning, Aug 13th, right on schedule, Chanel had her puppies.  There are 11 of them.  Mom and babies are doing fine.  Some are smooths and some roughs. 2 tri females, 2 sable merle females, 1 blue female, and 6 sable males, not yet sure of all the break downs for rough and smooth.

Chanel is being a wonderful mother and is almost back to her trim shape.  Amazing considering how she looked before.  Check back in November for available puppies from this litter.

Chanel and Al

Al finishing.

Chanel & Dona at the Nationals

My pride and joy, Ch. Ceilidh's DeepRiver Haute Couture (Chanel)  is in whelp to Ch. Deep River Hobby's Moonwind (Al).  She is due to have pups on August 13-14.  We are hoping for a great litter.  Chanel was final consideration at the 2010 nationals with an Award of Merit under Judge Carl Williford, and BOV at the Alabama speciality on Memorial Day Weekend under Judge Bill Brokken.   Can't wait to see their puppies.

HOME

Welcome to Ceilidh Collies. My name is  Micha Ann Elliott and I have been breeding and showing collies for the past 12 years. My love of Collies began in my childhood through the popular Lassie stories and the books of Albert Payson Terhune. When I was a teenager I became the proud owner of my first collie, a tri-color female named Sheba.  From that moment on collies have been my first love.  However, it would be many years before my dreams of breeding collies became a reality.

Once you own a collie..... you just want more and so Ceilidh Collies was born.  Ceilidh (kaylee) is a Gaelic word meaning "a gathering" which I thought was a perfect name for a kennel of herding dogs. Read through my blogs and see the wonderful dogs that I fell in love with.....past and present.  Updates will be coming every month!

July 1st

Chanel has been bred (on June 14) to Ch. Hobby's Deep River Moonwind.  I am going to know in 10 days if she is in whelp.  Hopefully she is.  Meanwhile her mother (Ch Marko's Sweet Temptation)  is also in season, and I decided to breed her one more time.   One litter is just not enough for such a beautiful bitch.

Lyric and Shakira will come this week for R & R  and to await their new coats.  Lyric will do some herding at the CCA regionals in October and then go back to the show ring to wow the judges (or not).  Shakira will also return to the ring when her new coat arrives.

My new camera takes great pictures so visit the available to see new photos of Versace.

Three New Champions so far in June

Kathy Moll's boy Charlie became Ch. Kitleigh Charlie Brown, HSAs  on June 6th under judge Sandy Alexander in Charlottesville, VA.  Charlie is related to my Robin (boys page).  He is out of Shekinah Deep River Siren by Southland Bardstown.  He is now at home at Deep River to continue his herding.

Also that weekend, Deep River Cover Girl (Haley) out of our co-bred litter from Ch. Deep River Westwood Glamor Girl by Deep River Younghaven Alliance finished her championship on Saturday the 5th and Gracee became Ch. Deep River Meloncollie Baby O'Tartan on Sunday the 6th.  Not bad for a weekend.  Thanks to Dona Williams for her expert conditioning and handling.  Everybody at my house is now out of coat, so showing will be suspended until the fall.

In the late fall after Chanel has her pups she will go back to Dona for preparation for the Nationals in Tulsa.  Hopefully, we will see you all there.
